Leonard Peltier wants to be a spokesperson for his people. He has endured 50 years with his head held high, facing a storm of racism and oppression. He has not flinched or bent. They tried to break his spirit — it grew stronger. A tree battered by the wind grows strong.

He has a deep understanding of what tyranny and oppression truly are.

The Bureau of Prisons has severely limited Leonard’s speech. We are trying to determine whether he can speak about not being able to speak about the things he is prohibited from discussing. If that sounds confusing, consider applying it to the words that come out of your mouth.

Leonard says he has an impressive new cell, but it’s still a cell. He can breathe fresh air and lie in the sun. That’s everything — but until Leonard is truly free, the fight continues.

Leonard Peltier’s supporters have been generously contributing donations.

Freedom isn’t free, especially for someone who has endured 50 years of medical neglect.

There’s a myth about Indigenous people on reservations being “taken care of” by the government.

The Indian Health Service tries, , but they are limited by a budget. They can only handle one issue at a time, and Leonard has several health problems, all of which are urgent.

Leonard still has infected teeth. When they are removed and he's ready for dentures, the typical wait is three months for the gums to heal. I've been told some people have waited over a year.

Leonard Peltier will not go a year with no teeth. In prison, he had not seen a dentist in over ten years. We are done with Leonard doing without. We will go outside the system and get him fitted with temporary dentures.

Because of you, we can tell Leonard that we are able to schedule a dental appointment as needed. We can pay for temporary dentures and also cover the cost of relining them when necessary. When he is ready for permanent dentures, they will fit well because of you.

We are incredibly grateful to each and every one of you.

Leonard is 80 years old, but he is a young 80. With decent ongoing healthcare, he has many years ahead of him to be a spokesman for his people, to enjoy the simple life that he has been denied for so long.

This video was created so that Leonard Peltier could watch the people who have struggled for him over the past five decades welcome him home. It is available to the public to glimpse the fortitude and determination this man has inspired in so many.

LEONARD PELTIER UPDATE 01-01-2025

Leonard Peltier started experiencing intermittent blindness over a year ago. He was told his eyesight would be treated within four to six months. Leonard’s eyesight has worsened severely, and they are still saying it will be four to six months before he is treated. Leonard Peltier is going blind.

On 12-31-2024, Leonard was taken to the hospital because a blood vessel in his eye ruptured.

The lockdowns have lessened in severity. Many of you have been pressuring the Senate Judiciary Committee, and they may be hearing us. Thank you for your efforts.

When Leonard had lockjaw, supporters found a senator willing to intercede and fly him to the Mayo Clinic for treatment. We must find someone in Congress willing to intercede to save Leonard’s eyesight. The prison treats emergency symptoms when they arise, but the underlying conditions must be treated.

A sample letter and Judiciary contacts are on the Donate/Act Now page.
