Who is Leonard Peltier?

Leonard Peltier is a Native American elder, artist, and activist who has spent nearly 50 years in federal prison. He is a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa and has long been a symbol of survival, strength, and resistance for Indigenous people around the world.

Leonard was incarcerated in the 1970s during a time of intense conflict between the U.S. government and Native American activists.
